The annual meeting of the Snake Reunion and Eta Beta Alumni Association was scheduled for 2 pm at the Wingate Inn, following a nicely done Parker's Barbecue Lunch. Three members of the newly returned chapter were present and participated in the meeting after Mike Cunningham called it to order around 2:08 pm.
During the discussion members learned that there were five (5) new brothers with a grade point average above 3.9. Surprise and applause broke out. The new chapter report and status of the newly recognized chapter lasted for about 20 minutes. Danny Wood also added that, at the banquet, we would present our first Eta Beta Scholarship for Excellence Award. We were also advised the chapter would have a float in the ECU Homecoming Parade. He also announced the Eta Beta Distinguished Award was now the Millard D. Maloney Distinguished Service Award and that Gwenn Maloney would be attending this year's presentation.
Jim Stout also pointed out that Snake Reunion and the Alumni Association had achieved all of their 2017 goals: 1. The Eta Beta Chapter support paid off and the Chapter had returned to ECU. 2. The support for funding Sigma Nu's Eta Beta Scholarship for Excellence has been funded and the first will be presented that evening. 3. The Eta Beta Alumni Reunions would continue to be held in Greenville, during a football week-end. 4. A committee had been formed to look into the housing market for a possible Sigma Nu House for the renewed chapter.
Minutes of the 2016 Snake Reunion and Eta Beta Alumni Association Meeting were approved.
Announcements were made concerning the rest of the schedule and the meeting adjourned at 3:33 pm.
