Young and Williams Take Harley Trip to Support Pirates against ASU |
Two snake bikers, Bill Young and Jerry Williams decided to take advanatage of Ray Spears' tickets and ride their Harleys to the ECU-ASU game (on September 5) when they learned Spears would be out of town and not able to attend the game. After confirming that Brother Millard Maloney was doing well at WakeMed, following surgery, Bill and Jerry met at Ray Price Harley-Davidson for the ride to Greenville. Because of the high attendance they had to get a room in Washington, NC (the original Washington) in Beaufort County. After a trip to the Greenville Harley shop (actually located in Winterville) they cruised by the stadium area and visited with Bill's friend, Bennie Harrell to recon the area for potential parking the next day. They then rode on to Washington for the night.
After checking in teay called Brother David Jones, who picked them up and took them to a Pirate Club event that was over-crowded. So they went out to dinner at a local restaurant located on the river. While there, they met David's daughter and several of his grandchildren.
However, after dinner the two 'ole (or is that "old") Snake Harley riders turned in for the night but rose early to get parking in Greenville before the game. David and his family also invited the two motorcyclists to "tailgate" with them in their special Pirate Club parking area. There David and his bride of several seasons (they have been together forever, since most of us have known them) introduced the two bikers to their son and to his new wife, who teaches at ECU. They also met another grandson and his friend.
After a fun "tailgate party" they strolled over to the stadium for the game and were pleased to see ECU take an early lead. Everybody was pretty excited at half-time with a 24-0 lead. It was during that time they ran into Larry Phillips and also saw Bones O'Bryant's bride. After the third quarter the two old bikers pulled out, to beat the crowd, only to grow very concerned while listening to the game on the radio. Whew, the final score was too close for comfort with ECU finally beating ASU 29 to 24.
Below are a few photos from the Young-Williams trip to ECU.
