The Creed

The Eta Beta Chapter of Sigma Nu has returned to the campus of East Carolina University. The Snakes are back!

W. Ben Waters, Jr., Kappa Sigma Nu
First Charter Snake Reunion regrets having to advise our readers and friends that W. Ben Waters, Jr. who was a member of the Kappa Sigma Nu Colony that led to the formation of the First Charter Eta Beta Chapter of Sigma Nu, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2008, at Duke Raleigh Hospital following a brief illness. Some of you met Ben Waters for the first time during the Snake Reunion held Sepember 3-4, in Raleigh. Photos of a smiling Ben Waters are found among the reunion photos on these pages. He was a truly authentic person, well-liked by all who met him. He will be remembered and missed by a legion of friends and associates.

Ben enjoyed a 46-year career in broadcasting. In 1977 he joined Capital Broadcasting as News Director and then in 1980 he became part of the companies staff as Director of Special Projects. He retired in 2003.

Our Kappa Sigma Nu brother is survived by Martha, his wife wife of 43 years; daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Wayne Grant of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren; brother and siser-in-law Bill and Pat Waters of Biloxie, Mississippi.
A service commemorating Ben's life was held on Thursday, November 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Edenton Street United Methodist Church and the family received friends as the church afterwards. Internment was private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the house of worship or charity of one's choice.
