The Eta Beta Chapter of Sigma Nu has returned to the campus of East Carolina University. The Snakes are back!
The Snakes Will Return to ECU in 2016

The Snakes Are Back!
It is with a great deal of pleasure that I pass on the news that we had a successful conference call Monday with Sigma Nu National and the decision to return the Eta Beta Chapter to ECU was approved for the Spring of 2016.
Several of you started this process years ago and I appreciate you allowing me the opportunity to be a part of this successful journey. Alex Taylor from National will be sending a formal letter with the announcement and next steps which we will send out to all the Brothers and post to our website and Facebook page.
Finishing up the final funding of our scholarship becomes most important now that we have a firm date of Spring 2016. This would allow Alex and his team, that will be on campus recruiting the initial pledge class (expected to be about 60), to offer our 1st scholarship.
Thank you to all who donated at the reunion last weekend. SR-8 was a great success and a bunch of wet rainy fun. Plus a nice win. For those of you who have not had a chance to donate in support of our endowed scholarship, please consider doing so ASAP. Our goal is another $9,000 by end of year to fully fund and permanently endow the scholarship. We have approximately $17,000 in funds and commitments and need a total of $26,000 to be in a position to give a scholarship in the spring.
Checks should be made out: Snake Reunion (not Sigma Nu or Dan Wood)
Send To: Dan Wood at 608 Roanoke Place, Franklin, TN 37064
Please pass this email on to anyone not listed and copy me so that I can add them to the master list.
Attached is a link to the letter from Sigma Nu advsing us that the new Eta Beta Colony has been authorized as of January 1, 2016. At that time we expect there will be a recruitment effort and more made on campus to prepare for the Fall Rush in 2016.
A lot of work for a number of years has gone into this effort. We urge all of our brothers to support the re-charter effort.
As Brother Danny Wood has also pointed out..."In tandem with this news, our Sigma Nu scholarship will become a reality with about 70% of the needed funds collected, or about $7,000 needed for completion. Imagine when you were pledging and having the ability to apply for a $1,000 scholarship. We think it will be the most innovated approach in the country in marketing a fraternity to prospective members. Thanks to those that have contributed....please help finish it if you have the ability. We will be setting up the endowment immediately with our "down payment" in order that you can write tax deductible checks. In the meantime, checks written to Snake Reunion will be appreciated. We thank Larry Tysinger who pledged $4,000 if we could find matching funds. Jack and Jolene McCann, along with several of the swimmers, and their families ( Steve Wilkerson, David Tucker, Jeff Faucett) matched Larry's pledge. Without Larry Tysinger's offer, we could not have been in this position. Others have given generously over the years from $50-$400."
