Eugene Early "Mac" McDonald, IV: July 11, 1970 - September 8, 2020

EUGENE EARLY "MAC" MCDOWELL IV

Eugene Early “Mac” McDowell, IV, age 50, of Eden, NC, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, as the result of a North Carolina manufacturing facility accident.

A service of remembrance was held at 2 pm Saturday, September 12, 2020 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Peter Smith officiating.  The family received friends from 1-2 pm at the church before the service and other times at the residence.

Mac was born in Greensboro on July 11, 1970, a son of Eugene Early McDowell, III. and Judy Wiles McDowell, both deceased.  He was a truck driver for Averitt Express and a member of First Presbyterian Church.  He was an avid lover of history, football, grilling and spending time with his friends and family. Mac also attended East Carolina University in Greenville, NC and was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity as Eta Beta member 345.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Anna McDowell Nash.

Mac is survived by his wife Sherry Lynn Johnson McDowell of the home; his children, Jessa Rexroad (Brittany) of Eden, Jonathan Rexroad (fiance, Ashley) of Eden; his sisters, Julie McDowell Townsend (Tony), Betsy McDowell Cooper (Tommy) of Candler, NC; his brother-in-law, David Nash of Raleigh; his grandchild, Nora Billings; his aunt, Betty de Brosse; and his uncle, James Wiles.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the ALS Foundation.

Boone & Cooke, Inc. Funeral Home served Mac’s family during their time of this loss.
