The Creed

The Eta Beta Chapter of Sigma Nu has returned to the campus of East Carolina University. The Snakes are back!

William "Bill" Erskine Morgan August 25, 1957-July 17, 2022
William "Bill" Erskine Morgan

William “Bill” Morgan, (HB 183) of Powder Springs, GA, beloved husband and father, passed away on July 17, 2022. He was 64 years old.

Bill was born on August 25, 1957, in Wilson, North Carolina; the son of Janice and James Morgan, Sr. Growing up in Chapel Hill, Bill’s first job was selling programs at Carolina football games. This began his lifetime love of all things Carolina Blue, especially basketball. One of his favorite sayings was “Anybody but Duke.”

While attending East Carolina University, Bill was a member of the Eta Beta Chapter of Sigma Nu fraternity, where he made lifelong friendships. During his freshman year he met his wife of 41 years, Lynne.

A natural athlete, Bill was a football and baseball player in high school. Though the athletic talents of his daughters didn’t progress past middle school, Bill spent his young parent days as a soccer coach for both Lauren and Mandy. Later, he became an avid golfer and enjoyed his time on the fairways and greens of Brookstone Country Club.
When Bill wasn’t on the golf course, he enjoyed spending time at the beach, watching Georgia football and traveling with his family.

Bill had a giving spirit and supported many non-profit organizations including Calvary Children’s Home, Toys for Tots, and World Wildlife Fund. He had many gifts he wanted to share with the world, one of which was his gracious heart and fierce protectiveness of those he loved.

He is survived by his wife, Lynne; their two daughters, Lauren (Morgan) Patrick and Mandy (Morgan) Howard, and his two sons-in-law, Kevin Patrick and Andrew Howard.

The family will receive friends at Carmichael Funeral Home on Saturday, July 23 from 1:00 to 2:00. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 to 3:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to No Kid Hungry - https://www.nokidhungry.org - and Trinity Community Ministries - https://www.tcmatlanta.org/.
