The Eta Beta Chapter of Sigma Nu has returned to the campus of East Carolina University. The Snakes are back!

Kelvin Thales Wood, Obituary September 6, 1936-June 18, 2022
Kelvin Thales Wood, Sr.


Kelvin Thales Wood, Sr., 85, of Greensboro, NC, went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2022.

Kelvin was born in Durham, NC to the late Herman and Mildred Wood. He attended Durham High School and East Carolina University, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Nu fraternity. In 1973, he married the love of his life, Mary Ann, who passed away on May 19, and they resided in Greensboro. He enjoyed a long career working as a senior tax appraiser for Forsyth County.

Kelvin loved his family, animals and sports. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. As a Durham native, he loved all things Duke, especially Duke basketball.

Survivors include son Kelvin T. Wood, Jr.; son Jason Wood and fiancé Kara; daughter Jessica Sasser and husband Don; step-daughter Robin Beeler and husband Daryl; grandchildren Bradley Wood, Elias Wood, Ashlyn Kramer (Adam), and Calum Beeler. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Winston. The family would like to thank dear friends Eleanor Bray and Newton and Barb Royster for their help and support during this difficult time.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 10 at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church, W. Market Street, Greensboro.

Triad Cremation & Funeral Service, located at 2110 Servomation Road, Greensboro, NC 27407 is assisting the family.
