The Eta Beta Chapter of Sigma Nu has returned to the campus of East Carolina University. The Snakes are back!

John Samuel "Spain" Barwick, Georgia

JOHN SAMUEL BARWICK (HB 253)
ATLANTA, GA

John Samuel "Spain" Barwick, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, died unexpectedly, Sunday, October 7, 2012, of coronary complications at his home in Atlanta. At his request, no service will be held.

Sam was born May 28, 1962 in Edenton, North Carolina to John Henry and Peggy K. Barwick now of Morehead City, NC.
A national and international traveller, Sam was a graduate of The American School of Guatemala and East Carolina University. He loved visiting Guatemala in his adult years and continued to practice his adept knowledge of the Guatemalan culture and the Spanish language.  He was an avid sports fan favouring the Miami Dolphins and the ECU Pirates.

He was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity at ECU (HB 253) and enjoyed keeping up with his fraternity brothers and international friends over the last 30 years, adept at keeping in contact and was a considered a true friend by all.  Sam never met a stranger and was a loyal, considerate and compassionate friend to the many people he encountered during his life.

For the last 28 years, Sam worked in the financial services industry beginning with Merrill Lynch and most recently with Thompson Reuters in international finance.

He is survived by his parents, his sister, Mary Glenn Benton and brother-in-law, Glenn, and niece Mary Hunter Benton and nephew John D. Benton and former wife Meredith. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made on his behalf to:
