Return to The Rock, Part 2
Return to the Rock
Part 2 (2009)

Following the outside tour, Brother Todd Denson escorted Brothers Stout, Young and Williams inside the Sigma Nu Headquarters where they visited both “new” wings…added since most First Charter Brothers were at ECU.

You’ll see photos from the History Museum, the Alpha Room (stands for the Alpha Chapter) that features the Alpha Chest and more. Note, when representatives of a chapter visit, they will find on display the chapter flag for the chapter that was represented there last.

As the Eta Beta First Charter Brothers left, the HB chapter flag was pulled out and posted on display in the Alpha Room, to be seen by the next chapter representatives that arrive. Young, Stout and Williams were also pleased to learn that Sigma Nu now has two chapters in Canada.  See photos of the History Museum in the first block of photos below.  Also see photos from the Alpha Room in the second block of photos below:

The final part of their tour given by Brother Denson was the library established in honor of Dick Fletcher.  And too, it contains a complete set of Zane Gray works.  As you know, the famous writer was a Brother.  At the end of their tour, Brother Denson presented all three with a 45 year pin.  See photos of the final leg of the inside tour, including the Library in the third block of photos below:

However, touring was not over. Brother Stout took Williams and Young on a downtown tour of Lexington and the out to lunch at one of his favorite sandwich places. From there, they were off to VMI, where Sigma Nu was founded. Afterwards, they toured Washington & Lee University and later had dinner with Brother Dickie Tayloe and his wife Louise. More about that side of the trip along with photos in Parts 3, 4 and 5 of "Return to the Rock."

On Saturday morning Brothers Young and Williams rode their Harley's back over the the Headquarters and began their journey home, (in the rain) from The Rock. It was a long and wet ride but Sigma Nu bikers "can take it."
